A natural mineral flower created by the extraordinary growth of pyrite crystals!

This unusual Pyrite Flower is a beautiful example of the fascinating ways pyrite can develop into intricate, sculptural formations.

Rather than the familiar cubic crystals often associated with pyrite, this specimen features multiple radiating clusters of crystals that fan outward in beautiful rosette-like arrangements. The individual crystal faces display pronounced natural striations, with reflective metallic surfaces that catch the light from different angles.

The overall formation has an almost floral appearance, with several individual crystal groupings coming together to create a remarkably textured and dimensional specimen. Its darker champagne-gold and bronze tones give it wonderful depth, while the bright metallic flashes highlight the intricate crystal structure.

At approximately two inches across and weighing 162 grams, this is a compact but substantial specimen with plenty of visual interest.

The fascinating world of pyrite

Pyrite, chemically known as iron sulfide (FeS₂), is one of the most recognizable metallic minerals in the world. Although it is commonly found as cubes and other geometric crystal forms, it can also develop into radiating, bladed, and rosette-like arrangements.

These unusual growth habits are part of what makes collecting pyrite so interesting. No two natural formations develop in exactly the same way.
