Our Story "A Grain of Sand"

The faces behind the account… Lauren my daughter(R), me Suzanne (L) the founder and owner of A Grain of Sand. I have been a creator all of my life, as child I painted, crafted all sorts of things and designed jewelry. AGOS was born when I created a jewelry line with pearls being my inspiration. Why the name A Grain of Sand? When a grain of sand gets into the shell of an oyster or clam it secretes a shell like substance known as nacre to coat the intruder leading to the formation of a pearl. I traveled the U.S. and participated in 38 bead and jewelry shows a year. It was quite a schedule. Eventually In person shows began to fizzle out. This amazing thing called the internet was born! A Grain of Sand was one of the very first bead websites to hit the internet. I added crystals as a apart of AGOS to help Lauren get a start in the business in 2021. I have given her my Instagram platform to begin on her very own. It is an exciting time for us. A new spin off business for Lauren and more exciting creative things for me. This business was started in 1997. It's hard to believe. It was a time of new beginnings and the beginning of the world wide web as well as A Grain of Sand.
