High Quality Brazilian Rutile Quartz Cabochon with Golden Rutile, Rainbow and Flash 28 × 45 mm #CAB7940

This is an exceptional natural Brazilian rutile quartz cabochon and, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful pieces in this group. The combination of crystal clarity, dramatic rutile, unusual internal features, and substantial size makes this a true statement cabochon for the collector.

Measuring approximately 28 × 45 mm with a substantial 14 mm height, this beautifully polished cabochon has remarkable depth and presence. The quartz itself is exceptionally clear, allowing the natural rutile inclusions to be viewed deep within the stone rather than simply appearing at the surface.

The first thing that catches your eye is the gorgeous bronzy-golden rutile spray sweeping through the quartz. There is wonderful variation throughout the stone, with both fine, hair-like rutile needles and areas of much thicker, more concentrated rutile. This contrast gives the interior an incredible sense of movement and dimension.

And then there are the surprises.

When this cabochon is moved in the light, you can see a tiny natural rainbow within the quartz, along with beautiful reflective foil-like flashes from internal features. These subtle optical effects are difficult to capture in a still photograph, which is why we strongly recommend watching the video of this cabochon. The video reveals the movement, depth, flashes, and changing character of the stone far better than photographs alone.

There are also warm bronze and reddish tones associated with portions of the rutile, adding even more visual complexity. The result is a piece that seems to reveal something different each time you look at it.

The underside has a beveled edge around the bottom, allowing the stone to sit comfortably and securely in the palm of your hand while also making it particularly suitable for custom setting.
