These are rare natural Auralite 23 Cacoxenite gemstone beads from Canada, beautifully polished into organic oval shapes and top drilled for a distinctive and highly wearable design.

Auralite 23 is a fascinating Canadian gemstone associated with the Thunder Bay, Ontario region. It is typically an amethyst-based material containing a complex mixture of mineral inclusions. The name Auralite 23 refers to the claim that as many as 23 mineral components have been identified in material from the deposit, although individual stones do not necessarily contain all 23.

These beads show off the wonderful natural complexity that makes Auralite 23 so appealing. You'll find soft lavender and purple amethyst tones, clear and smoky areas, golden-brown and reddish inclusions, and darker mineral-rich sections throughout the strand.

The beads range from approximately 9 mm to 20 mm, giving the strand plenty of natural variation and several larger pieces that can serve as focal elements.

I especially love that these are top drilled rather than conventionally center drilled. It gives the individual beads a completely different presence and makes them wonderful for necklaces, statement jewelry, focal pieces, and designs where you want the natural shape of the stone to remain the star.

Each gemstone is separated by a small glass bead, creating space between the stones and allowing each Auralite 23 bead to be seen individually. The result is a beautiful strand with an almost curated, gallery-like quality.
